My new BFF…

In this crazy military world I live in, no home is guaranteed for longer than a year.  When we move it just so happens that our stuff comes with us and it doesn’t travel first class. Now granted we have had great moves (knocking on my hard wood floor as I type) and our belongings have made it with very little scratches and scuffs. But, I know our time is coming and when it does I don’t want to lose sleep over furniture. Now that we finally live close to an Ikea it is my go to place for all things furniture. We love loading up the car with all of our Ikea “wares” and putting them together when we get home. These are my favorite Ikea pieces so far:

Since we don’t have a laundry room, this substitutes as a “mud room”/laundry room and don’t you just love the red?

I finally have a craft room in this house and I love having nooks to put my stuff that doesn’t match the rest of the house!

And finally, we needed a thin piece of furniture to put in our bedroom that also had storage, we make lemonade out of lemons!

and this:

march 2010 095 march 2010 111

and I didn’t get any pictures of eating and shopping, but we did a lot of that too! We had such a great time all together again and we LOVE having visitors! Thanks for coming to see us Will, Wyatt, and Mom!

Spring has sprung

Here in Alabama it is starting to look a lot like Spring…which means one season closer to Summer! I use the word Spring lightly considering it is still in the 60’s and rains every other hour. But, there are tell true signs that Spring is just around the corner, I can feel it, and see it all around!

Even the dogs are getting excited…

Joe has been feeling the Spring love by playing soccer for the ACSC team. He plays goalie and if I may toot his horn, he’s pretty good at stopping all those balls!

As for myself, I’ve been enjoying the greening of grass and watching the dead branches come to life with pink and white buds. We still wait for any news of our next move, but in the meantime I’ll just enjoy being part of this magnificent Montgomery Spring!

Meet Ruby Dee

Christmas 2009 193

Santa was good to us this year and brought us a Christmas puppy. We battled back and forth for days on a name and even when we got her she didn’t have a name. Finally after family and friend’s input, we decided on Ruby Dee. I don’t think we’ll tell anyone our names when it is time to name a child because EVERYONE has an opinion! So far she has been a great puppy. She was potty trained in 9 days, has only chewed one cord, and is generally a happy little lab.

We had some concerns bringing Dixie with us to Alabama when we first left. Since we have brought Ruby Dee home, Dixie has gained back 7 years of life and is more youthful than ever. So we decided to bring back our girl Dixie and we are proud to announce that the Moschella four are doing fine!  They love each other and I can’t get enough of watching these two in action.

Blog of 2009 past

As 2010 creeps in, I need to take a moment to share my favorite memories of 2009. I can’t seem to get going on this blog, resolution #1. After being harassed by my family over the holidays I am finally on the ball. Apparently people want to know what is going on here in Alabama!

To say that 2009 was boring would be a lie. There have been way too many changes for that to be true. I have somehow managed to live, and love being an Air Force wife through my first move. While the beginning of our move was rough, so many dark moments of being without family, friends, job, familiar faces, and of course Texas. I have since discovered that in the military your friends become your family and your husband becomes your rock. Our time in Alabama has allowed me to explore lots of new hobbies such as cake decorating, cooking clubs, pottery, painting, and I even dusted off my sewing machine. I’ve learned that I’m not alone in this crazy lifestyle, and that my friends and family at home are always a phone call away. As for me and Texas, we are still very close in heart and mind!

The year started off fast and furious with another theme party as Cougar and Guido and a surprise engagement for Megan and Clark!

In March we had a gang reunion Houston style and I finally said goodbye to my jeep of 10 years.

After making the long drive to Alabama we kept on going to Savannah and enjoyed our first anniversary in Asheville, NC.

The fall and holidays came and went and we celebrated the marriage of Megan and Clark. The Moschella family also grew to 4 with our Dixie back and the new puppy Ruby Dee. More to come on her…

So many of my friends have had babies this year it is hard to keep up. My favorite gift for 2010 thus far is this little cutie Mazie Harrington being born!
